Ok everyone, The Washington Post is having a “America’s Next Great Cartoonist Contest”, where you submit 6 sample strips of a comic, and the winner gets $1,000 and have his/her comic appear in The Washington Post for a month!
So I totally want to enter Stupid Inventor, but I need help choosing which 6 strips to send in.
That’s where you all come in! Please click the buttons, or look through the archive (http://www.stupidinventor.com/category/stupidinventorwebcomic/) and tell me which comic is your favorite!
It doesn’t matter if it’s drawn poorly, I’m going to fix up the 6 funniest ones anyways.
Oh and I want to include one dating one, so pick your favorite dating and non-dating strip.

Here is some advice:
Include two that reach to your niche audience
Make sure all of them can relate to almost any reader
Show the personality of the characters
Make the style of all of them match
If some of them are wordy and lengthy try to shorten them
You’re basically submitting your portfolio.
I chose my list according to which ones i see able to win and go with the advice i’ve given.

I don’t think I’ll be submitting #13 because I want to include it in another proposal I’m working on later on in the Summer.

@Moni, yeah when I read that guys comment about 9/11 I was seriously shocked. I have to start making a list of the most ridiculous negative comments I receive, lol.
Hmm, I hear you, i first wanted to see what everyone favorite one was first, like which comic do you remember being funny without looking at the archive?

Well, I want to choose 6 very different ones, to show the different directions the comic can go. So it doesn’t HAVE to be one dating one, just an idea.
I may draw one for the contest from a planned storyline I haven’t done yet that introduces a new character…
good luck..and then you can also have a lottery…if you win..the reader that submitted the most comics that corresponded to the ones you submitted could win a stupid inventor duck

Then a panel of 3 or 4 cartoonists narrow it down to 5.
Then #1 is chosen by popular vote, at least I think that’s how it works…

Sorry, I chose 5 existing strips and I’m drawing a new one.
The 5 I chose have been enhanced, and only black and white. I hope to finish the 6th comic tonight, and I’ll post the list spreadsheet I made of votes and mention the 5 I chose and why, and post the 6th new comic to get your thoughts. I’m in my summer class now, but I’m hoping i’ll have it done by tonight.
